OCUVIQ® GP Specialty Lens for Irregular Cornea
Designed to fit irregular shaped cornea for patients with Keratoconus condition, abnormal cornea curvature, post surgical, post lasik, dry eyes and other eye diseases, these Specialty GP Lenses for irregular cornea comes in various sizes.
Keratoconus contact lenses are designed in particular to fit the irregularly shaped cornea for patients with Keratoconus condition or abnormal corneal curvature due to natural causes, unsuccessful LASIK procedures, or other corneal refractive surgery.
Alexa® Keratoconus lenses are custom-made to fit the unique shape of the cornea, providing excellent vision correction and comfort for the patients; these lenses often have a more complex design, such as Gas Permeable (GP) contact lenses, semi-scleral lenses, or scleral lenses, to fit the irregular shape of the cornea and provide a smoother, more even optical surface, which improves visual acuity. Alexa® Keratoconus lenses offer the best potential fit and vision correction for each patient’s needs.
Types of Alexa® Keratoconus Lenses
Alexa® KC Keratoconus GP contact lenses catered to create a tear film between the irregular corneal surface and the rigid back surface of the lens, neutralizing the uneven front surface of the eye caused by Keratoconus. These lenses allow oxygen to flow through and reach the cornea, providing lubrication, comfort, and maintaining eye health. Alexa® KC is designed for any Keratoconus degree and corneal ectasias or nipple cones, and its’ multiple designs, including aspheric, parabolic, and hyperbolic, allow for a high success rate in adaptation.
Alexa® Semi Scleral (SS) GP contact lenses are intermediate-size lenses; between GP and full scleral lenses, and these lenses provide excellent vision correction as their larger size allows them to vault over the cornea, providing a smoother and more even optical surface, which improves visual acuity for Keratoconus patients. Alexa® Semi Scleral (SS) is designed for all corneal irregularities’ conditions such as Keratoconus, post-refractive surgery ectasias, intrastromal rings, keratoplasties, scars, and post-Lasik. The unique design of the lens allows for a stable and safe fit and simple adaptation for the patient.
Alexa® Full Scleral (FS) GP contact lenses are large in diameter and designed to vault over the entire cornea and rest on the sclera (the white part of the eye), creating a fluid-filled space between the lens and the corneal surface, which helps provide a smooth optical surface and improved visual acuity in individuals with Keratoconus. These lenses offer stability and centration on the eye, minimizing lens movement and rotation. Alexa® Full Scleral (FS) with cutting-edge design is prescribed for all corneal irregularities such as Keratoconus, post-refractive surgery ectasias, intrastromal rings, keratoplasties, scars, and post-Lasik. The lens is designed with 4 different zones to optimize lens fit and adjustment of the corneal periphery.
